just the other night,
we had this conversation.
ibu was strongly against the idea of us riding.
she finally decided to leave it to bapak,
who by the way, always supports her decision,
and always has the final say.
bapak: parents usually can see whether the child has the ability to do something.
i dont see why not.
us: (disbelief) (pleased) (suddenly so much love for bapak)
ibu: (horrified) awak kasi anak-anak awak yang perempuan ni naik motor?
bapak: if they ride safely, tau jaga diri sendiri, apasal tak boleh?
after all of you get your license, the 5 of us can go riding.
NEWSFLASH: BAPAK ALLOWED US TO TAKE UP BIKE LESSONS.
and while i was in cloud nine,
ibu began talking and brought me back down to earth.
cik yani was an extreme rider,
who had a motorbike escort of more
than fifty during her wedding.
after she met with an accident,
she never got on a bike, even as a pillion.
and because of the motorbike accident,
she was unable to do a natural childbirth.
jannah met with an accident
while undergoing her bike lessons.
the accident left her leg paralysed.
not only was she unable to move around for a few months,
she also missed a semester in nus.
until i manage to convince and persuade ibu,
the thought of looking half as hot as fox
on the aprilia RS 125 in transformers: revenge of the fallen,
may as well remain a dream.

no matter where i have been
and whatever i loved while being overseas,
i come back knowing that singapore is home,
where my family and friends are.
happy 44th singapore!

when the rain is blowing in your face
and the whole world is on your case
i could offer you a warm embrace
to make you feel my love
when the evening shadows and the stars appear
and there is no one there to dry your tears
i could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love
i know you haven't made your mind up yet
but I would never do you wrong
i've known it from the moment that we met
no doubt in my mind where you belong
i'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
i'd go crawling down the avenue
there ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
to make you feel my love
the storms are raging on the rollin' sea
down on the highway of regret
the winds of change are blowing wild and free
but you ain't seen nothing like me yet
i could make you happy, make your dreams come true
i know there's nothing that I wouldn't do
go to the ends of the earth for you
to make you feel my love.
baby,
if you're reading this,
its for you.
i will miss you.

after nearly 3 years,
one and a half with the most wonderful people
of the lovely department,
countless number of periods,
thousands of children's smiles -
im leaving;
heavy-hearted,
glassy-eyed.
saturday
right after the trip to sheng shiong to get the containers and ribbons,
i began on the pineapple tarts.
7 hours later,
4 and a half trays came out of the oven piping hot.
the 2 trays of slightly burnt tarts were deemed rejected;
only to be gobbled up in a matter of minutes
when i brought them to nenek's place.
sunday
after 2 failed cupcake orders,
his aunt agreed to take in my last minute order
for 30 pieces.
took the cupcakes from cik rina's place at simei.
they looked too good to eat!
we stepped into her crib,
she looked at me and turned to iz,
"oh, ni dia girlfriend iz. manisnya la syaz ni."
(coming from his tante, it was a huge compliment.)
the chocolate-rich cupcakes were
simply delicious!
instead of icing,
she had used pure chocolate cream
and the base of the cupcake
was a moist chocolate brownie.
she had them individually packed
in clear plastic containers
and glued ribbons on them.
pretty!
check out her website @
http://rinacreation.com
and right after we left,
the one who's so so fly
gave me a really lovely treat.
woo.
monday(backrow, left to right: azlina, cikgu yati
frontrow: maz, aza, me, ahad, jun, ain)
these really lovely ladies have been the reason why
i smile and laugh in school.
i love you guys,
and i'll miss you.♥ the stuff they got for me.
and i have tommy bear
in bed with me.

the week in chronological order.
the one he's a year older.
instead of heading to shiraz as planned,
we had lunch at alaturka.
we tucked into their delicious turkish food.
i especially loved their beyti kebab
(as seen in the second picture)
and their homemade sauce.
while we were walking to bugis,
he commented that the food was really good
and admitted he still wasnt full.
.. not good.
we headed to hereen
eddy's band was having a gig there.
riptrip performed a few songs,
of which i liked the last one the best -
dont tread on me fused with jason mraz's im yours.
he got agitated with a security guard
who told him to back off the passage way
while he was snapping a picture.
.. gosh.
towards the mrt station in the underpass,
it was like a scene from a drama.
the hurt and humilation i was brought upon
left me so
.. cold and empty.
a screwed up sunday.
the one with cupcakes.
i gave him his belated birthday present.
there was still this fear and coldness in me
but he was so sincerely sorry.
i remained cold and mean.
yummyumkins didnt reply my email
which was sent 3 days ago and i began to panic.
we sought help from his tante
to bake 30 cupcakes by sunday
and its going to set me back at
twice the amount i was supposed to spend.
and i still remained cold and mean
on that monday.
the one i got shoes.
went to shop for necessary school stuff
such as two pairs of shoes.
pretty.
i like them.
and i got myself new shoes on tuesday.
the one we went grocery shopping.
got stuff to make
pineapple tarts this coming sunday.
we had a heart-to-heart talk
over plates of pasta,
i wished every conversation was as such.
we finally made up that wednesday.
the one i got lost.
we were the only two wandering souls
who got lost,
not knowing that registration
was cancelled.
zul became "the one who got you lost".
i made the one who's so so fly
tolerate the hours and miles,
just to get myself a new bag.
into 3 hours or more,
(and mind you, i had spent 6 hours a week ago with the sister to recce)
we finally settled for ayam penyet
at lucky plaza for our lunch,
.. only after i got my bag.
with the uphills of nie
and being directionless,
with the miles of walking down orchard road
to get the perfect bag,
the thursday was working me out.
the one i cleared everything.
and on the friday,
i managed to clear nearly 2 years of junk
into 3 and a half boxes.
not too bad.
but now the bedroom's in a mess.

"A rose without the glow of a lover bears no joy;
Without wine to drink the spring brings no joy."
Hafez (1325-1390 AD)
i cant believe lunch at shiraz's ends at 2.30pm.
i already felt stupid leaving the presents
and not bringing them home.
and now our lunch is about to be screwed up.
in 3 hours time, and im
present-less, lunch-less..
think think think.
if not ..
its going to be that birthday year
he'll never ever forget.

ndp 09.
on 11 july 2009.
on 11 july 2009.
the much awaited fireworks display
was to be launched in a matter of seconds.
i had set my canon function to 'fireworks' mode
to capture the breathtaking moment,
when heavy raindrops started to pelt on our heads.
there was a scramble to keep our gadgets out of the rain
(i certanly do not need a reprise of that suicidal K800 on my Secret).
my canon and watch went into the deepest corner of my bag as well.
umbrellas, raincoats, ponchos were made useless
as the extremely heavy downpour drenched us all -
it was like showering / getting into the tub
with our clothes and shoes on.
the rain even made
a mini waterfall down the stairs.
.. and we sang at the top of our voices in the rain.
the best part of the day was
that hot shower.
fortunately, my gadget babies survived.
but i had to dry those smudged indemnity forms
and almost everything else in my bag.
note: to get a waterproof bag.
footnote: the horrifying bill came.

i could not help being envious.
should haves and shouldnt haves
had been running through my head.
its time to be greatful
for whatever i already have.
alhamdulillah.
because maybe,
God had planned something greater for me,
insyaAllah.
