my saturday was spent with..

whole numbers
fractions
decimals
ratio
percentage
area of triangle
angles
average
measurements ..

with muzakkir,
for nearly 5 freaking hours.
i nearly fainted
and that boy nearly died.

later that evening,

i lured nasrin with that sweet secrets toy
while using the psp as a bait as well.
the boyfriend received no love from me
as i dragged him into the shop -
for the second time of the week,

to get myself
that lovely, pretty, gorgeous baby.
woo.

iz had dinner at our place,
helping himself to a second serving
while watching the track events.

he helped me out with wrapping maz's present,
looked through the albums,
played with nasrin's sweet secrets
and succumbed to whatever she said.

the girl simply adores him
cause he makes her laugh.

while i slept that night
she was simply lovely,
so unlike you.
the sister you never had.

with the vertical equipment around our waists,
maps in our hands
and flashlights on our foreheads,
we were contemplating the route
for our cave exploration.

we were lost.

but having the two
most beloved women in the world with me
my walls of fear seemed to crumble.
and i was confident
we could get on with our descent

fearlessly.

it had amazing limestone sculptures
hanging 5 - 10 metres from the cave ceilings,
like sharp icicles.
the million glow worms were like
a burst of shining stars on the cave walls.

while i had the coolest experience
exploring the waitomo caves in new zealand
i cant help but shiver -
not only because of the cold
but also the darkness and the thought of
gog and magog.

and my mind
was free to roam and replay
scenes from 'the descent'.

5.30am
i woke up to the handphone vibration
and saw msgs from the boyfriend.

6am
i liked the cool feeling
when my rose gold stainless steel strap
touched my wrist.

6.30am
the sky was still dark and we were in black.
then he went, "i like when you wear this,"
while touching the sleeve.
yeah, that black pregnant blouse dress syazana rejected.

6.45am
there is nothing like
riding with the boyfriend on his honda super 4
along the expressway
and the cool wind blowing my face.

8am
tucked away in a corner of the school
i read the final instalment of harry potter,
again.
that did a terrific job
of keeping me awake for
two and a half hours.

and now
im supposed to be doing something constructive
but i know im one of the millions
guilty of procrastination.

my day ends in 7 minutes
and its time to head to the beach with
the boyfriend.

if the guy in the tattoo
dredged up what happened,
he was great at concealing it
cause that guy was so totally cool about everything.

snapped plenty of pictures
that friday.
i so totally love my canon.

cant wait for the gadget baby
i'll be getting this tuesday.

its the boyfriend im upset with
and the air stewardess im pissed off at.

BACK OFF
la.

national sepak takraw finals 2008.
the senior guys emerged as champions
beating qihua 2 - 1.

they are the ultimate 11 and 12 year olds,
oozing with such coolness
without having to try.

with today gone
its a one down.

i still have yet to meet
the man with the arm tattoo
this thursday.

i am supposed to
prepare materials for the upcoming
primary 1 parent-child day ..

but let's create a diversion for a moment.

ibu brought home
the forceps, topical anesthesia, cotton swabs and pads
to extract nasrin's loose bottom tooth.

while ibu was facing difficulties
pacifying the terrified nasrin,
syazana and i were applying freeze-eez onto our gums.

seconds later ..
we felt the anesthesia working
as our gums, tongue as well as lips
became really numb.

we were being dumb
cause we had to endure minutes
of that uncomfortable feeling.

nasrin was being really difficult.
till bapak threatened her,
"if you dont want ibu to extract your tooth,
i will do it."

.. and he came out of the service balcony,
carrying a humongous pair of pliers.

that made nasrin wail even louder.

WARNING:
THESE PICTURES ARE NASRIN'S WORST SHOTS.

right now,
she is all smiley
with a little gap at the bottom row
where her little tooth used to be.

thanks to the super early workshop
all the way at serangoon road
i was so shagged the entire day ..

that i was really high -
without the alcohol.

and i am SO not a morning person.

farah was telling me,
"cikgu, saya tak pernah mendengar atau melihat cikgu ketawa macam gitu sekali!"
all thanks to jon,
i burst out laughing really loudly in my p4 class ..

and they all were laughing
at me laughing.

yeah
you get the drift.

and when the boyfriend picked me up from school
i was laughing, joking and singing
while at the back of his bike.

oh
i had a little chicken
which wouldnt lay an egg
so i poured hot water
up and down its leg
then it wiggled and it wiggled
and it wiggled all the way
and my poor little chicken
laid a hard boiled egg.

(sung to "new friend found")

i found the song sadistic
but really amusing,
all thanks to filzah.

im SO going to wear a cardigan tomorrow morning
cause the morning wind gets really chilly
especially on the bike

and
im concentrating more on heating myself up
than the content of the workshop itself,
in the freezing course room.

dearest izhar baby

thank you so much
for your trouble and effort
to send me all the way to TLC by 8am
even though you were working till late last night
and merely had 4 hours of sleep.
and especially when you have to
head back to school in time for your ut.

thank you so much
for the strawberry cake and chocolate cookie
you secretly put into my bag
so that i wouldnt be hungry.

and lastly
thank you for your psp
which you fully charged last night
so that it could
keep me company on the train ride home.
thank you darling.
i love you.

and since the boyfriend's psp is with me tonight
im so going to bring down those men
in medal of honour heroes 2 ..

until i hit the sack.

another game of foosball.
im chalking the score at 5.

it has been quite sometime
since i celebrated racial harmony day
in school.

and to relive
the old school days
i had the opportunity to do so
with the concord's sunshine.

the primary threes.

my primary ones.

primary four terrors.

i read it
and it was simply amusing
that i really wanted to laugh.
i know it is unbecoming of me
if i were to do that.
so i could not help it
and smiled.

heh.

this came through my inbox just now..

to realise the value of one year,
ask a student who failed a grade.

to realise the value of one month,
ask a mother who gave birth
to a premature baby.

to realise the value of one week,
ask the editor
of a weekly newspaper.

to realise the value of one hour,
ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

to realise the value of one minute,
ask a person who missed the train.

to realise the value of one second,
ask a person who just avoided an accident.

to realise the value of one millisecond,
ask the sprinter who won a silver medal
for the 100m event in the olympics.

for now.

just let me in a teensy information
on mas selamat
so it can lead to the apprehension of him
inside or outside Singapore.

and then
i can claim that S$1,000,000 cash reward.
woo.

Friday, July 18, 2008

alhamdulillah.
im all smiles again.

the foosball table arrived just now
the guys were especially making a racket,
while battling each other out.
ganges joked,
"later we play at 5.30pm.
loser marks all the compositions."

i never got the chance to check out
who was the one left with all the essays.
all i know is
there is no such thing
as playing a quiet game of foosball.

some things had taken a step back
ever since the hurdle decided to hijack my brain.
and now that hurdle has been leaped over ..

..
syazana is peeving me about my birthday stuff,
when she's supposed to be the overall coordinator
and giving really silly suggestions.

"You're not cooperating with me!"
"You're merely ignoring me wholly!"

.. came syazana's msgs
complete with irritated and annoyed faces.

she's cute -
at times.

..

and then
my mind is bugging me to think about iz's present
by friday night or
saturday morning latest.
and its already 18th of july

which means
i have
merely
around

35 hours.

Thursday, July 17, 2008

another sleepless night.

i got into bed after isyak
at 9.30pm.
in my dream i was running,
running away.

i know i have not been myself
this entire week.
some things happened
which i wish didnt.

the boyfriend has really been
very encouraging and supportive
and thanks to the sunshine
and the babe, nasuha, as well.

i really really hope
everything will turn out better.

please ..

120708
after nearly a decade
i had the opportunity to watch the NE show 2008
with the primary five students,
held at the marina bay multi-purpose facility.

all geared up in reds and whites.

sharing a photographic moment, with his friend, through my lenses.

esther - all ecstatic to see herself on the big screen.

taking shade from the sweltering afternoon sun using the given.

the colourful ndp 2008 funpacks.
included axe brand oil, kids company, booklet of vouchers,
crackers, balloon inflates, lighted cap, canvas bag
and some other stuff.

the parachutists were mere specks of red in the blue sky.

the men under the red parachutes.

the marina bay wave.

the buddy, the aunty.

flag bearers.

the black knights.

the city outline.

magnificent finale.

i especially loved the black knights' incredible feat
the pilot actually communicated with us from the cockpit
.. and of course
the breathtaking fireworks.

the first display of fireworks
was wasted through my camera lenses.
when i finally put my camera away,
sat back and enjoyed the sight like thousands did,
it was simply stunning.
woo!

its been an unpleasant week
and its not even halfway through.
thanks to the boyfriend
who has been there regardless
and the littlest one
who is my sunshine, my only sunshine.

the epitome of cheapness
so freaking pathetic,
you are.

twelfth.
i love the 12th of every month because
its our anniversary,
the account gets cashed in and
i don JJC touch rugby jersey number 12.
how much lovelier can a number get?

and for this month
he had to put aside his jealousy and ego
just to get me that gift.
you know i love it.

he was really being sweet yesterday
by getting me prata cheese hotdog (yummy!)
before i went to school
and fetching me even though we had to go public
due to the rain.

and i really like it alot
when we sit down and talk
just about anything and everything
at a quiet place.

him aside.

fried chicken, daging korma and nasi minyak
for dinner - whipped up by bapak.
it was the first time i found my father adorable
when he excitedly told us
the blunders he made while cooking.
it was amazing for the first attempt.

the adorable father aside.

the father gave me his many reasons
for not allowing me out on the 19th.
i tried to act all nonchalant
but i was disappointed and
relieved at the same time.
those reasons could be merely translated with a NO.
he could have saved his breath
and i would still understand.

i would love to be there with him
and celebrate his 23rd together,
just the two of us.
but to meet his parents, as well as his entire extended family -
i dont think im ready for it.

that would give even the coolest of girls
in the hottest of rooms ..
.. cold feet.

i'll find a way
to make it up to him.

that aside.

right now
my pathetic standby VGA camera phone
has a long ugly scratch
across the screen.
and its not my fault,
seriously.

i dont even need to think of excuses
to say that i need a new phone,
LIKE NOW. (say it noah's style)

desperation aside.

i was cracking my head
thinking of the boyfriend's birthday present
when i decided that i shouldnt strain the brain anymore.
so i shamelessly but reasonably came up with this -

its not until three weeks time
but i know
it will so benefit my potential present givers.

the wishlist.

the sony cybershot T300.

thanks to 5x optical zoom and ample 10 mega pixel resolution, users can shoot subjects with clear, stunning results. face detection technology, including the popular smile shutter feature, has been further enhanced, contributing to beautiful photos.

coach's legacy leather framed slim envelope.

♥ twelve credit card pockets
♥ two multi-function pockets
♥ double bill compartment
♥ outside coin pocket with framed clasp closure
♥ turnlock closure
♥ vintage leather with legacy stripe lining

i especially love it in walnut.

the LG KF750 secret.

the LG KF750 Secret is hard to resist. the handset seems to have it all - turn-head exterior, top-notch skills and a few exotic extras to spice things up. LG secret packs a 5 megapixel camera, slow motion and fast video recording, carbon fiber battery cover and tempered glass over the display. the other highlights are the neon touch navigation and touch media navigation.

the baby-g G-Ms.

MSG300C-7B1
sharp & stylish. the new G-Ms collection of watches is the prefect balance of metal and resin composite design for an elegant yet sporty look. six studs embedded in the bezel and highly polished mirror-like surfaces stand out in sharp contrast in this totally modern design.

ralph by ralph lauren.

RALPH captures the energy, spirit and personality of today's young woman with a colorful, floral fragrance: sparkling green apple leaves, zesty orange mandarin, charismatic pink magnolia, seductive purple freesia and soft blue musk.

incanto shine by salvatore ferragamo.

incanto shine seduces the senses and sends you off to a new destination.
incanto shine.. the radiant delight.

the wishlist aside.

i was reading the papers
while having my lunch in the staff lounge
when i came across this heartwarming article.

the straits times - friday, 11 july 2008.
H16 sports section
sportsmanship: jesse owens and lutz long
by rohit brijnath.
the photograph included with the article is timeless.

an extraction from the article.

... jesse owens, the jumper who was struggling, was an athletic genius. he was also black. it should not have mattered but of course it did. it mattered in america, where he often ate breakfast in the car because he was not allowed into many restaurants.

and it mattered in germany in 1936, when adolf hitler was propagating his despicable theories of the superiority of the aryan race, and when in some newspapers, pictures of an ape appeared alongside owens ...

... lutz long, a gifted german long jumper, was blond, blue-eyed and the archetypal aryan. owens was his opponent and the better jumper ...

... then the two men duelled in the final. owens led. long equalled him. hitler applauded. but owens was too good eventually, and when he broke the olympics record with his last leap, long was the first to embrace him.

owens understood immediately the enormity of the german's gesture, a moment of beauty in a time of ugliness. "it took a lot of courage for him to befriend me in front of hitler," the american said later.

"you can melt down all the medals and cups i have and they wouldnt be a plating on the 24-carat friendship i felt for lutz long at that moment. hitler must have gone crazy watching us embrace."

long died in the war, but the story had one remarkable postscript recounted in donald mcrae's brilliant book, in black and white.

in 1951, owens returned to berlin and to the olympic stadium, and in the dressing room later, a young boy asked him to autograph a scrapbook.

as owens scrawled his name, he noticed a familiar picture. he took the scrapbook and said: "that's lutz long."

and the boy, karl, looked at him and said: "my father, sir."
