memories of the king of pop.

his crooning was one of the earliest music i was exposed to during my childhood ..

holiday sleepovers at makngah's crib in the east were the most enjoyable, especially with the company of my younger cousins. makngah happened to be a huge fan of michael jackson. and those who know her well enough will also know that she will go all out to support her 'idol'. back then, she went to mj's concert in singapore and bought each and every album of his.

i remember those huge LDs (laser discs) she used to buy and we would sit in front of the telly, watching in awe at mj doing his stuff (especially the moonwalk) and gawk at his heavily sequinned gloves and socks.

later, we would sing to his songs such as heal the world, will you be there (which happened to be the theme song for free willy), black or white, earth song, they dont really care about us and many many others.

michael jackson's 'you are not alone' brought memories of my very first shot at love.

nearly twelve years ago, we had weekly swimming lessons at the bukit batok swimming complex. when he chose the seat right behind me in the bus that afternoon, i felt euphoric.

halfway during the silent journey, i began humming 'you are not alone'.

and that voice behind me picked up from where i stopped humming and he sang so softly, meant only for my ears. through the reflection of the bus window, i could see the handsome boy smiling at me. i turned around to look at him through that crack between the bus seat and the window.

at that point of time, when that handsome face broke into a charming boyish grin, it melted the heart of this 10 year old girl.

today, with the likes of various artises such as justin timberlake and usher, who are greatly inspired by mj, and with 'beat it' as one of the guitar hero songs, the king of pop is not to be forgotten anytime soon.

if i could describe the weekend getaway
in 3 words;

food,

shopping,

beach.

the rare weekday,
with the one who's so so fly.

i love this shot of him.
he was very hungry
and even thirstier.

.. then we crashed room 620 at midnight.
i loved their landscape pool.

footnote:
the much anticipated kate spade event was falling short.
im not pinning on the coach event.

MORE THAN WORDS

with only 26 letters in the english alphabet, the combination to form words can get interesting. some examples:

  • "aegilops" is the longest word with letters in alphebetical order. it means goat grass.
  • the word "queuing" has the longest run of vowels.
  • "stressed & desserts" are the longest words that can be reversed.
  • "esophagographers" is the longest word in which all letters appear twice. it refers to people experienced in radiographic visualisation of the oesophagus using a swallowed radiopaque contrast medium.
  • "strengths" is the longest word that has only one vowel.
  • the longest word that can be typed with the left hand is "stewardesses".
  • the longest word without a repeating letter is "dermatoglyphics". this word refers to the study of skin markings and patterns on fingers, hands and feet.
  • the word "latchstring" has the longest run of consonants. it means a cord attached to a latch and often passed through a hole in the door to allow lifting of the latch from the outside.
  • the longest one syllable word is "screeched".
  • "honorificabilitudinitatibus" - the longest word to alternate consonants and vowels.

“10 Things Guys Wish You Knew,”
by Jason Mraz, Cosmopolitan Mag, June 2009 issue

1. You look sexy when you’re puffy from lying on the pillow all night.

2. We don’t understand your addiction to celebrity gossip. Whatever you do, don’t talk about it on a date.

3. Guys get a monthly type of PMS too. We get moody and need our space.

4. It’s the hottest thing when you say, “Are you going to kiss me now?”

5. We read and reread your texts and e-mails.

6. It’s annoying when a girl continues to ask, “What’s really on your mind?” Eventually, the answer is going to be “You asking stupid questions is what’s on my mind.”

7. A lot of us are insecure about our bodies. Women look like beautiful, soft, gorgeous angels when they’re naked. We look like hairy ogres or little scrawny trolls.

8. It’s cool when a girl isn’t weird about food. I love a woman who will eat something slimy.

9. Never tell a guy he’s just like your father. It creeps us out.

10. Put on a men’s dress shirt and nothing else. We’ll be able to unbutton it no problem, and it shows off your legs in a wonderful way.

only if you are interested.

we'll go from head to toe:

my head is pounding
my neck is strained
my shoulders are aching
my spine is hurting
my butt is sore and ..
my calves are simply throbbing.

sometime ago,
each time after every training or game,
i chose to believe that if your muscles are aching
(esp the tighs, arse and calves) -
that those flabby-prone bits are getting firmer.

and right now
i beg to differ.

a complete domestic goddess a.k.a homemaker:

with hardly 4 hours of sleep: i

got some marketing done
went through pages and tabs online
tutored the brother long enough to make me go crazy
vacuumed and mopped the entire house while blasting my ears
prepped the ingredients
whipped up nasi lemak and
finally got reservations done for the next weekend getaway.

gosh. that was a mouthful.

not another!

despite the tight security,
someone
had splashed white paint all over the notice board
outside the mart's macdonalds
and the police came to investigate.

that place really never rests.

hell's kitchen.

inspired
i decided to whip up nasi lemak with
prawns cooked in sambal belacan,
fried battered chicken wings and drumlets,
fried paru and
omelette stuffed with button mushrooms, diced tomatoes and cheddar cheese.

and i screwed up big time.
or i thought so.

after prepping the ingedients for the sambal belacan,
i realised that i was missing the key ingredient - belacan.
i refined the dish and made udang masak merah instead.

it never occurred to my mind that
it took so long for the paru to be tender,
i ended up serving it when everyone was done with their meal.

i was so overly ambitious (or generous),
i cooked helpings enough for a 6 pax dinner, plus
for brunch the next day.

i imagined chef ramsay's face an inch away from mine

you bleep!
bleep!
bleep!
bleep!
bleep!

GET OUT!!

heh.

then
my father had second helpings during our sit down dinner at 7
and he ate again two and a half hours later.

it couldnt be that bad -
seeing my father could be fussy.
(or hungry)

goodnight.
i am currently running on my reserve energy.
but i bet it can last through she's the man.

this whole youtube-hell's-kitchen-watching-thing got to stop soon
if i would like to mute the parents' incessant nagging.

its crazy; everything is.

having to work with people who just cant get along with you,
whip up some signature 'spot on' dishes in 45 minutes flat
and having chef ramsay spitting profanity into your face.

bleep bleep bleep.

and that is just the beginning.
did i say it was crazy?

being on hell's kitchen (virtually) for 5 hours
is making me hungry.

just because ..

i have been feeling ..

it is like there is something at the back of my head, that is causing me so much uneasiness, distress, doubt, uncertainty, torment, unrest. and i feel my heart beat very fast in anxiety and fear. it weighs my head and heart down. it is making me have all these slight headaches, sluggishness and loss of appetite. a session of eating makes me feel nauseous.

i feel myself frowning all the time, thinking about it. it has been going on since late last week. the sheer diappointment seeing nothing of it everyday is like a heartbreak. the half an hour conversation with syahir over the phone did lighten me up a little, but now im back to frowning.

i wish i could confide in someone who is there with me 24/7, someone who understands.
i wish i could just let everything out to someone who hears me out patiently, without having anyone judging me.

please help me
dear God.
